Learn about the latest feature releases and improvements in the Connecterra Platform and how to use them

This month we’re bringing you more visibility into herd fertility and more control over how you view your data. Here’s what’s new in Analytics.

New reproductive metrics in analytics

1. DIM at first heat after calving

What's new

First heat after calving - a key fertility indicator that can impact days open, herd DIM and overall reproductive performance and productivity.

Why it's important
  • Fertility visibility: Monitor how soon cows are cycling post-calving.
  • Early intervention: Spot problems that might impact reproductive efficiency and take action
  • Clear benchmarking: Compare herd performance across time periods.‍
How it works

The DIM at first heat after calving summary shows the average DIM to first heat, based on heat events from your herd management and activity systems.

Go to Analytics>Add chart, search for the metric and save it to your Reproduction dashboard for easy access.

2. Percent of cows pregnant

What's new

This metric shows the percentage of eligible cows that are confirmed pregnant—providing an at-a-glance look at your herd’s reproductive performance.

Why it's important
  • Track progress: See how many cows are successfully bred over time.
  • Improve timing: Identify changes in reproductive performance of specific groups.
  • Benchmark goals: Set goals based on different lactations or DIM thresholds.
How it works

We calculate the percent of pregnant animals by dividing the number of pregnant cows by the number of eligible cows (not DNB) and tracking that percent over time.

Go to Analytics>Add chart, search for the metric and save it to your Reproduction dashboard for easy access.

More flexible chart views: choose daily, weekly, or monthly

What’s new

You can now choose to display data in daily, weekly, or monthly intervals when viewing certain metrics in Analytics—giving you more flexibility and control for data analysis.

Why it’s important

Not all data changes at the same pace. Daily and weekly views charts more actionable, especially for larger farms or fast-moving metrics, enabling quicker detection of trends and performance changes.

How it works

In supported charts, use the new interval selector to switch between per day, per week, or per month views:

This is currently available for:

  • Number of cows
  • Youngstock %
  • Days open
